Zwift will launch cycling e-sport (or e-cycling sport) in 2020

The International Cycling Union (UCI) and the Zwift virtual cycling platform will inaugurate the first World Cycling Championships in 2020. Within the framework of the development and modernisation of cycling, the UCI and Zwift are signing an agreement on the development of cycling as a new discipline in cycling.

e-Sport seems to convince the world of traditional sports like basketball, tennis, fifa series etc and now cycling. Indeed, cycling is a step forward in the field of sport. The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced that it has signed the Zwift Memorandum of Understanding. The latter is a global online training and competition platform for athletes. The Memorandum of Understanding concerns the management and development of (e)sport bicycle traffic as a new discipline which is in a way an esports.

At the UCI World Cycling Championships in 2020 the Zwift platform will host the qualification. At the moment no date and place has been confirmed. The Zwift application will be the only program used for all the tests.
